Professor in Institute of Physics, Jagiellonian University. He obtained his master of theoretical physics degree in 1970, doctor's degree in 1974, got his habilitation in 1986 and the professor of physics title in 2000. His main research interest were: applications of group theory in solid state physics, renormalisation group, phase transitions in liquid crystals and molecular crystals, and dynamic systems with deterministic chaos. Since 1984 he research was focused on theory of electronic correlations in molecules and solids. He is specialist on numerical investigation of finite clusters and quantum chemistry metods as applied to solid state (in collaboration with Max Planck Institute in Dresden).
