PPiekar

He is the head of the Department of Materials Research by Computers in the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków. He graduated in physics at the Jagiellonian University in 1994 and got the doctoral degree in 1999. In the years 2001-2003 he worked as a postdoc at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In 2010 he presented the habilitation thesis entitled "Lattice dynamics in strongly correlated d- and f-electron metals". His main scientific interest concerns the dynamical properties of materials studied by the first-principles methods. He collaborates with the experimental groups from ILL and ESRF in Grenoble studying lattice dynamics by the inelastic neutron and X-ray scattering methods.
