    Magnetic monopoles and asymptotic hyperkähler metrics

    Abstract:
    The dynamics of magnetic monopoles in the SU(2) Yang-Mills-Higgs theory
    can be approximated by the geodesic motion in a natural hyperkähler metric
    on the monopole moduli space. I will discuss the asymptotic behaviour of
    this metric and argue that such a behaviour is common for a large class of
    hyperkähler metrics obtained via so-called generalised Legendre transform.
